CPR/First Aid/ART for members

General course information

This course provides members with all three awards of CPR, first and and ART. It is for members who do not have First Aid or ART. All three awards are covered in this course, there are no entry or exit points.

If you do not hold a bronze medallion and would like to patrol with these awards, you will also require the observers award and the radio operator certficate.

Course overview

This combined course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an adult, child or infant. It will also provide participants with the knowledge to administer first aid care and treatment in the workplace or in personal situations. In Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) you will develop skills and knowledge to manage life-threatening external bleeding‚ use oxygen‚ airway management devices and automated external defibrillators during resuscitation, and to administer oxygen to conscious or unconscious victims.

Assessment

Assessment is through demonstration, presentation and application of all elements of competency in a simulated workplace setting. Participants will be required to complete activities that may include role-plays, oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations and performing scenarios.
