Alex By The Sea is giving one local indie artist the opportunity to open Day 1 of the festival alongside national touring acts Beddy Rays, The Buoys, Letter to Lions, The Vlads and Camino Gold. Plus our secret headliner!
This is about backing local music and giving Sunshine Coast talent a proper stage. Big crowd. Ocean backdrop. Real opportunity.
Eligibility
- Open to solo artists or bands.
- Must suit the indie / indie rock genre aligned to Day 1 artist lineup.
- At least one member must be Sunshine Coast–based (or strong local connection).
- Must be available to perform on Day 1 of Alex By The Sea.
- Production, backline, front of house supplied by Promoter.
How to Enter
Artists must: Email one original track (MP3 or streaming link) to: events@alexsurfclub.com.au
Include:
- Artist/Band name
- Contact details
- Short bio (max 150 words)
- Social media handles
- Confirmation of availability for event date
- Subject line: ABTS Local Artist Entry – [Artist Name]
Entry Period
Opens: 12 March 2027
Closes: 5pm 27 March
Late entries not accepted.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by Alex Surf Club.
Criteria:
- Genre suitability (indie / indie rock alignment)
- Originality and song writing quality
- Live performance potential
- Event fit alongside headline acts
- This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part.
Prize
- Opening performance slot on Day 1 – Alex By The Sea
- Performance on main stage
- Artist promotion across Alex By The Sea social channels
- Event exposure to large festival audience
- Backline set up and remuneration payable for performance

Winner Notification
- Winner notified via email and phone.
- Announced on Alex Surf Club & Alex Bluff Bar social channels.
Must confirm acceptance within 48 hours.
